How to teach painting-sip art without losing your soul or mind?

painting-sip art

This topic was brought up several times in my own art workshops. Soon I began to entertain teaching one for the fun of it. I had previously taught art classes using step-by–step paintings so I assumed I already had some experience with this format.-  painting-sip art

After teaching paint-sips for many years, I now have a list that I use to survive and enjoy the experience of paint-sipping! Paint and sip San Antonio is place where people often show their skills.

Tip 1: Work from your own artwork

Once I have established a date, a time, and the cost of my painting-sip art event, I begin searching for the perfect painting to be taught during the event. According to my experience, it’s easiest to select a personal painting and simplify it so that beginners can understand it.

You’re correct if this sounds like a paint-by number method of painting. Many participants in paint-sip want to walk out with a painting similar to yours. Make it easy by simplifying the composition and painting accordingly.

Tip 2: Paint it yourself,- painting-sip art Take notes.

Many people who come to paint-sips are making the first painting in a class and their anxiety is high. Most people attend paint-sips to simply have the opportunity to learn and share the joy of painting. The easier the class will flow, the more you can anticipate their questions.

Tip 3: Teach your painting, and not how to be an artist

It’s important that you don’t try to teach participants how to make art while planning the painting. While it may sound strange, given that they’re going to a painting workshop, the goal is to show your students how to make one painting for one night.

Tip 4: Arrive early and establish a strategic

D-day! If you’re like me then you look forward with anticipation, curiosity, anxiety, and even fear to the actual day.

Before you begin packing for your event, make sure that you have a list. So that you have the best possible experience, it is a good idea to plan ahead and arrive early.

Be safe when setting up the space. Avoid food and drink stands near the paint supplies. It is important that participants have plenty of space so they can move around and avoid tripping on or knocking objects over. Allow for wheelchairs or walkers to be used if necessary. Place your demo area in a place where everyone can see and understand you.

Tip 5: Make your skin thick

The first time I taught paint-sip, everything went smoothly. It went off without any problems and it was a great experience. I look forward to returning to teach more. I had to remind me that the event’s success was due to both beginner’s enthusiasm as well as good painting.

Tip 6: Be gracious!

The paintings are finished. Participants are examining each other’s work as they walk by. People are getting ready to go to the kitchen to wash their brushes.

This is typically the time of the paint-sip in which I feel like crawling beneath one of those tables and taking some naps.

Do not hesitate to thank them. If they offer tips, and you’re allowed the take them, smile and give them a handshake. Thank them for coming and take pictures.
