When her former flame returns from World War II though, they find themselves right where they started, utterly in love with the other.   

Bambi (1942)

With innocence amplified, this Disney movie made everyone cry when young and as adults, the impact it has, has only increased. The movie follows the story of a baby deer who loses his mother rather tragically and finds himself making friends with other forest creatures. Things seem to get better but with a hunter on the loose, you’ll have your hands up praying for Bambi.

The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

A hospital is no place to live, but for cancer patients, it can become the place they spend most of their time at. Joining a support group then may be the only way to remain sane and that’s what happens with Hazel Grace Lancaster. It’s been a long time and yet, this film remains among the top tragic romances of all times. Rose is from an aristocratic family that has a powerful name but no money to back it up. Thus, she finds herself arranged to be married by her mother. Her heart was already not in it, but it wasn’t until she meets Jack Dawson, a vagabond artist, that she considers rebelling. Their story might meet a tragic end but there’s no doubt that their heart will go on. 

Forrest Gump (1994)

The slow-witted Gump has been fortunate to enjoy support from his mother and gaining all the tools necessary to lead a full life. From a football star to fighting in the Vietnam War, he has done it all and lived through key historic events. All he wants though is to reunite with the love of his life, his childhood sweetheart, Jenny. A definite tear-jerker, make sure you have tissues handy for this one.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

Heartbreaks are hard, but would you try to erase your former love from your hearts completely? Well, this couple does. 

Clementine is determined to remove all traces of Joel from her memories and when Joel learns of her plans, he too undergoes the same process. Showing the intricate bonds of love and relationships, this film explores the pain of loss. 

Marriage Story (2019)

In divorces, its children that are impacted the most. As a split-up couple fight for custody of their son, things get ugly and fast. For the little kid trying to navigate his new reality though, it’s a tough time. Only watch if you’re prepared to have your own childhood trauma return, this film guarantees tears.
