What Market are Folding Smartphones For?

Almost everyone agrees that folding smartphones are incredibly unique, but one area where differences do begin to arise is when it comes to what market folding smartphones are for. Well, this question is a little difficult to answer.

Folding smartphones differ in a variety of ways when compared to most other products, and as you are going to find out in this article, catering to a select group of people may not be their primary goal. Let’s jump straight into it and talk about what market folding smartphones are for.

People Love Cool Tech

People love cool tech. It’s just a fact. Even the most sceptical among us can appreciate that the core mechanics behind how foldable phones work are pretty interesting, and the concept of a foldable phone would undoubtedly appeal to a sizable portion of people.

Sure, you could argue that the main drive behind people wanting to get their hands on a foldable phone is their compact nature, with users being able to fit a massive phone in their pocket with ease (something which is becoming more of a problem as phones get larger and larger). However, we would disagree with this notion – the vast majority of people who buy foldable phones do so because they simply think they are cool.

Apart from being slightly more compact, foldable phones have no real benefits. You can still play a casino online, download all of the latest apps, or watch YouTube videos or stream music from Spotify on both foldable phones and their non-foldable counterparts. There truly is no real, tangible gap in the market that folding smartphones fill except maybe as a gadget you want to own because few others do.

Innovation Is Essential For Any Business

Perhaps the most notable reason why phone developers are choosing to create foldable phones is simply because it is something new. There are a plethora of reasons why innovation is important for businesses, and innovation is one of the main tools that businesses have to keep themselves in the public eye.

Well, this may be exactly what said smartphone developers are trying to do. By producing a phone that has a concept as outlandish as being foldable, they are able to shock the public and garner free publicity, and it looks as if said developments are in dire need when you factor in that any differences between seemingly “improved” phone models are mostly negligible.

Foldable smartphones may just be somewhat of a gimmick to provide valuable eyes and attention, and even if this is the case, it seems to work nonetheless.

We hope we have been able to give you a better idea as to what market folding smartphones are for. In truth, folding smartphones are just a new and fancy piece of tech that makes it look like phone developers are innovating, and the chances of them sticking around in the long term are slim to none.

It would not be a surprise to see folding smartphones slowly fade out as time goes on, and unless they are able to give some tangible advantage over regular phones, it is unlikely that they are going to be popular for all too much longer.
